Letter to the Bendigo Advertiser re HIPgate.

When it comes to political cover-ups, the latest HIPgate cover-up is no big deal. With breached welfare recipients dying at the rate of about one per day during the Howard Years, in November 2005 these deaths were officially made a State Secret when they were secretly classified as confidential by the Legal & Constitutional Affairs. I know that they are a State Secret because I have the committee’s suppression order to prove it. I also have a letter from Senator Bob Brown in which the last line states "As you have indicated breaching can lead people to such despair that they take their own lives". If Senator Brown or Tony Abbott want to point the finger at Peter Garrett and shout "cover-up" they would do well to keep in mind that they have 3 fingers pointing back at themselves. How many breached job seekers died whilst Tony Abbott was the Employment Minister. At an average of one per working day, I’m sure that you can work it out. Perhaps the shadow treasurer, another former Employment Minister can give Tony a hand in working out the numbers? For more details just go to the following web link. (Note: HIPgate = Home Improvements Program cover-up.)
