FADED MEMORIES – GONE and TOO SOON FORGOTTEN

Albert Whitford (E/N 5023) is one of our nation’s heroes. In the 107 years since the picture of Albert and Carrie was taken, far, far too much about our Aussie Diggers legacy has been forgotten.

Albert’s son, Bill Whitford, was just 18-years-old when he enlisted in 1943.

What follows are reminders of the terrible cost paid by our nation’s heroes in World War 2.

Bill Whitford was just 18-years-old when he enlisted in the 2nd AIF

THE RATS OF TROBRUK

THE RATS OF TROBRUK PAID A HIGH PRICE

The famous ‘Rats of Trobruk’ are part of the Aussie Digger lengend: out-numbered and out-gunned, by their courage and tenacity, they won a historic victory.

However, they paid a very high price with 3,836 men killed, wounded, or missing in action*. (Missing – as in buried alive, drown, or blown to pieces.)

HMAS YARRA

4th March 1942 – HMAS YARRA fought against 3 japanese pocket battleships

On the 4th March 1942, HMAS Yarra, an anti-submarine sloop, was attacked by 3 Japanese pocket battleships and their destroyer escorts. Incredibly, the crew of HMAS Yarra fought for 90-minutes in a battle that should have lasted just seconds.

On 13 of the ship’s crew were rescued several days later.

SANDERKAN – THE DARKEST CHAPTER

Sanderkan is such a dark chapter in Australian history that it was kept from the public for 20 years or more.

Of 2,440 prisoners in the Sanderkan prisoner-of-war camp, on 6 soldiers survived because they had escaped from the camp. The horror is told in a WIKI report:

THE DIGGERS LEGACY

In 1946, Diggers demanded changes that would forever outlaw slave labour activities in Australia. The sacrifices made during World War 2 meant that politicians, who wanted to make a massive increase in the numbers of seats in the Federal Parliament, had no choice but to agree to a referendum that added the following paragraph to the Constitution:

THE DIGGERS LEGACY – THE DOLE AND NO WORK FOR THE DOLE

A welfare allowance is a constitutional right that cannot be linked to “civil conscription”

WORK FOR THE DOLE is not just unconstitutional, it is slave labour – it is a modern day version of this:

9.500 SLAVE PRISONERS - 2,646 DIED

Every time a person is forced to do Work for the Dole, politicians face a 12-year prison sentence.

Check the facts for yourself, and when you do, SHARE THEM WITH OTHERS.

falsification of the Australian history is evident. Political correctness is obligatory. Original sources disappear. Feeling of shame for the past is introduced, of guilt.
